Lecture Series

Perhaps you want to learn more about music but do not want to specifically study piano? There is so much to learn about music that goes far beyond a single instrument. My Music Scholars Lecture Series is designed specifically for individuals who want to learn something new in a broader sense. The lectures are comprehensive and touch on many different facets of art and history. I strongly encourage questions from the audience and work to design each series with multimedia engagement so no one has to just sit and listen!

I discuss art, architecture, literature, scientific advances, politics, religion, philosophy and social norms to put music in a historical context. My highly educational multimedia presentations are geared toward senior adults who are interested in lifelong learning and want a deeper understanding and appreciation of music. But, there is something for everyone in my presentations, and I am happy to cater to a different audience if need be.

Presentations are normally somewhere between 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes long. I do book ahead so please reach out so we can schedule a series at your establishment. Click here to contact me or to inquire about my informational video which gives you a sneak peek of the lectures’ material.

A testimonial:

“Martha’s Music Scholars Series is an outstanding, high-caliber addition to our programs for adults 55+. She has a strong adult education pedagogy that works for all levels and kinds of learners. She blends lecture, visuals and audio components into each program and touches not just on music but also the history, politics, religion, architecture and art of the times to create the full context within which we have a deeper understanding and appreciation of the music.”
